Sustainability
For us at Bortignani, doing things right means respecting people, the land, and the product. Our idea of sustainability is concrete: it starts with the choice of quality materials, follows through a mindful production process, and is reflected in a design made to last over time.
Carefully selected materials
The leather we use comes exclusively from responsible supply chains and is recovered from the food industry. This means no animals are raised solely for their hides: we give new value to a material that would otherwise go to waste, reducing excess and supporting a more sustainable production cycle.
We believe that leather, thanks to its durability and reparability, is the most conscious choice for a high-quality shoe. Ours comes from Italian tanneries (mainly Tuscan ones), which use environmentally conscious processes such as vegetable tanning or low-impact techniques that limit the use of chemicals.
Shoes made to last
Our response to fast fashion? Creating footwear that stands the test of time. Every pair is designed to last and to be resoled when needed, reducing the need for frequent purchases. Authentic craftsmanship is also visible in small imperfections — they’re what make each shoe unique and unrepeatable.
A concrete commitment
We know sustainability is a journey, not a destination. That’s why we commit every day to improving:
- We use recyclable or reusable packaging and avoid unnecessary waste.
- We produce locally, reducing the environmental impact of logistics and transport.
- We keep direct control over every production phase, ensuring respectful working conditions.
Choosing Bortignani means choosing a product made with care — in harmony with people and the environment. Join us on this journey, where quality and sustainability walk side by side.
